About

The Stairlings Collective are an intergenerational LGBTQ+ history research collective interested in building solidarity through storytelling. Initiated in 2018 by artist Alisha Doody, the project was founded alongside Alexandra Hall and Jules Farrell. To date the group have partnered with BeLonGTo and TENI and have created workshops for the Museum of Contemporary Photography of Ireland exploring LGBT histories through media and collage, and more recently the group developed a portrait project with trans women and non-binary femme folk that was projected onto the walls of the National Museum of Ireland for the Herstory Ireland Light Festival. The collective are currently working with members of the trans community to develop a podcast ConverSayTrans which will be released on the 5th of February 2021.

To date the project has received funding and support from Arts Council – Artist in the Community Scheme, PhotoIreland Foundation – Museum of Contemporary Photography, GCN (Gay Community News) Magazine, TENI – Trans Equality Network Ireland and BeLonGTo Youth Services.
